Empowering Veterans Through Entrepreneurship at Rider University
Rider University has taken a powerful step forward by opening applications for its Veteran Entrepreneurship Training Program (VEP). This free six-week initiative is designed to empower veterans, along with their spouses and dependents, equipping them with essential skills to launch or expand their business ventures. This year marks the thirteenth installment of the program, which takes place on Wednesdays from May 13 to June 24, 2026, at Rider’s campus in New Jersey.
A Unique Approach to Business Development
With a limit of only 20 participants, the program offers a tailored experience that ensures personalized feedback and guidance. As Dr. Ron Cook, a professor of entrepreneurship who leads the program, puts it, "I’ve seen some successful businesses develop as a result of their efforts in the program." This is not merely a course; it is a workshop where veterans explore feasibility analyses for their business concepts. Participants also have access to a wealth of resources, including mentorship from experienced business professionals.
The Supportive Network for Success
Rider University has been a consistent advocate for the military community, earning recognition as a Yellow Ribbon school and ranking No. 21 in U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges for Veterans in the Regional Universities North category. This support extends through a strong advisory board and notable alumni who willingly share their expertise and experiences with program participants.
Local Community Involvement
This initiative doesn't just benefit individuals; it has the potential to inspire the entire Northern New Jersey community. From Sussex County to Andover Township, local veterans and their families are encouraged to engage in this opportunity, fostering economic growth and innovation within the region.
How to Get Involved
Applications are now open and will remain so until May 8, 2026, or until the program reaches capacity. This unique educational experience is a fantastic opportunity for local veterans seeking to turn their ideas into reality.
