Sparta High School Celebrates Halloween with Peer Development
SPARTA, NJ - On the spooky night of Wednesday, October 28, the Sparta High School Peer Development Program (PDP) kicked off a festive celebration that brought together students of all ages. This Halloween party marked a significant milestone as it was the first event organized by the PDP aimed specifically at enhancing connections within the Spartan community. With aspirations to create a positive learning environment, the PDP strives to bridge relationships between high school students and elementary school pupils.
The enthusiasm at the event was infectious, with peer leaders engaging younger students from kindergarten to fifth grade in a variety of Halloween-themed activities. Decorations filled the hallways, transforming the school into a spirited celebration spot where face painting, henna, gym games, and even a maze crafted from caution tape drew in excited youngsters. The highlight was a cleverly designed Haunted Hallway where kids could trick-or-treat in a safe, educational setting.
Peer leaders took the opportunity to introduce themselves to their younger counterparts while ensuring that the festivities were both fun and memorable. According to advisor Victoria Szabo, the event acted as a pilot for future PDP activities, signaling a desire to foster greater community connection. Szabo expressed her pride, stating, "We have been excited to expand our PDP program and start to build connections with our elementary school students." The success of this gathering has undoubtedly set the stage for more enjoyable events in the future, highlighting the value of mentorship and collaboration in building a tight-knit community in Sparta NJ.
