Breaking News: Horse Trainer Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor
MENDHAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. — In a concerning case that has drawn police attention to the equestrian community, a 55-year-old horse trainer from Passaic County, Troy Roberto, was charged with multiple offenses, including sexual assault of a minor. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed that an investigation revealed Roberto allegedly engaged in inappropriate behavior with a 16-year-old victim over a span of several months.
The Allegations Unfolded
The investigation, initiated in March 2026 after a report was filed, found that the incidents began in December 2025 in Mendham Township. Legal Consequences and Ongoing Investigation
Roberto faces severe charges — three counts of second-degree sexual assault and various endangerment offenses. These include third-degree child endangerment for the possession of child sexual abuse materials and for possessing controlled dangerous substances. During his arrest in Atlantic County, cops discovered six alprazolam pills without a prescription, as well as 36 rounds of ammunition in his vehicle.
