Sussex County's Annual Celebration Honors Local Veterans
This August 15th, Sussex County is gearing up for a heartfelt gathering to honor the brave men and women who have served in the military. The 13th Annual Veterans Picnic is set to take place at the Hamburg Fire Department Pavilion from noon to 3 p.m. This cherished community event is not just an opportunity for veterans and their families to enjoy good food and companionship; it also serves as a vital resource hub where they can connect with service providers offering valuable information about programs and benefits available to them.
A Day Filled with Food, Fun, and Fellowship
From lively music to delicious barbecue served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., this picnic promises to provide an afternoon filled with enjoyment and camaraderie. The Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services, alongside the Division of Senior Services and the Veterans Committee, is thrilled to ensure that all local veterans feel appreciated and supported. Attendees will be able to enjoy engaging activities while gathering important information that can help them navigate post-service life.
A Call to Local Veterans
Veterans are strongly encouraged to join the festivities, reconnecting with fellow service members while their families can also engage in the celebrations. The message from the Veterans Committee is clear: "Share an afternoon with your fellow veterans with fine food and camaraderie." This event has become a beloved tradition in Sussex County, uniting various communities including Andover Borough, Branchville Borough, and Frankford Township.

For those interested in attending, make sure to register in advance as space is limited. Reservations opened on July 1 and must be completed by August 10.
