Tom Reindel Takes the Helm at Hunterdon Central Baseball
In a significant shift for the Hunterdon Central Red Devils baseball program, alum and experienced coach Tom Reindel has been appointed as the head coach for the upcoming 2026 season. Reindel, who is a proud 2004 graduate of the program he now leads, brings a wealth of experience from his recent role at West Morris, where he led the Wolfpack to impressive victories and well-deserved accolades over the last decade.
Building on a Rich Legacy
Hunterdon Central has long been a powerhouse in New Jersey high school baseball, boasting five state championship titles, with their most recent win in 2018. Reindel acknowledges this prestigious history, stating, "In my opinion, over the last 25 years, you’d have a hard time finding a more accomplished public program in New Jersey than Hunterdon Central." This deeply rooted tradition presents both an opportunity and a challenge as he aims to maintain the program’s competitive edge.
Reindel’s Track Record
Before returning to his alma mater, Reindel spent a decade at West Morris, where he achieved a commendable 142-105-1 record. Under his leadership, the Wolfpack not only reached the Morris County Tournament final three times but also earned the title of sectional champions twice. This experience positions him strongly to take on the challenges that come with leading the Red Devils.
A Warm Welcome from Former Coach
Stepping into the shoes of coach Kevin Cuozzi, who recently resigned, Reindel has the support of his predecessor, who expressed confidence in his capabilities, saying, “I couldn’t be happier for Tom. Our players are in great hands, and I wish him the best of luck as he gets started.” This endorsement highlights the strong community and legacy that surrounds Hunterdon Central baseball.
The Road Ahead for Hunterdon Central
As Reindel prepares to lead the team, he inherits a competitive roster that had a successful 2025 season, finishing with a record of 17-7. The upcoming season will see the Red Devils competing in the Skyland Conference-Delaware Division, known for its tough competition, including state powers like Ridge and North Hunterdon. With such a robust backdrop, Reindel’s coaching skills will be put to the test as he works to elevate his team’s game.
Hunterdon Central fans are eagerly watching what promises to be an exciting season ahead. With Reindel at the helm, there is hope for further accomplishments and the continuation of the rich baseball tradition that the community deeply cherishes.
