Bringing Holiday Cheer: Stuff the Boat Initiative Returns
The annual "Stuff the Boat" toy collection has launched in Branchville, encouraging local residents to donate unwrapped toys, gift cards, and funds to help underprivileged families during the holiday season. This initiative, spearheaded by Off Shore Marine and benefitting Project Self-Sufficiency, is community-driven and supports thousands of children across Sussex County and beyond.
A United Effort from Local Heroes
The collaborative spirit shines as local businesses and first responders unite to support the cause. The Branchville Hose Company, Blue Ridge Rescue Squad, and several fire departments, including those from Frankford and Sandyston townships, are contributing their time and resources. This combined effort embodies the value of community engagement, especially as many families face challenging times.
Easy Ways to Contribute
Residents can bring their donations to designated locations including the Branchville Fire House on November 29th, ahead of the Christmas Parade of Lights, or at Off Shore Marine during their Community Drop Off event on December 6th. Both events aim to fill a 24-foot boat with toys as a symbol of goodwill.
The Impact and Need for Support
The Season of Hope Toy Drive plays a vital role within the community, providing gifts for thousands of underprivileged children in Sussex, northern Morris, and Warren counties. This year, Project Self-Sufficiency’s Executive Director, Deborah Berry-Toon, emphasized the importance of the program: “We are grateful for this community’s steadfast commitment to our neighbors in need,” she remarked.
It's All About Giving Back
As the spirit of giving fills the air this holiday season, Off Shore Marine owner Sherri Cecchini states, “Putting goodness into the world is the right thing to do.” The work being done through initiatives like Stuff the Boat is essential in creating a brighter holiday for many.
