A Bright Future for Newark's Young Creatives
This summer, an innovative collaboration has blossomed in Newark, as the Newark Regional Business Partnership (NRBP) and the Renaissance Newark Foundation (RNF) joined forces with pocstock to launch a creative internship program. Aimed at empowering young individuals, this initiative is not just enhancing skills but creating significant pathways for future opportunities.
Hands-On Experience Shaping Careers
Supported by the City of Newark’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), the internship allowed five high school students to delve into the world of photography, videography, and content production. Under the mentorship of seasoned professionals at pocstock, students traversed every facet of the creative process, enhancing their technical skills while fostering their creative confidence.
Community Commitment and Corporate Responsibility
A critical player in this initiative is Reworld™, a leader in sustainable waste solutions, which generously funded the purchase of professional equipment for the interns. “Investing in the next generation is essential for community growth,” stated Aja Alexander, emphasizing the company's commitment not only to environmental sustainability but also to empowering Newark's youth.
The Ripple Effect of Mentorship
This program exemplifies how mentorship transforms lives. Derrick Larane, pocstock's COO and former intern himself, highlighted the importance of such experiences. By providing students with real-world knowledge and industry insights, the initiative paves the way for their success in an increasingly competitive job market.
The Power of Collaboration
This partnership showcases a compelling model for fostering economic and personal growth within communities. By connecting businesses with youth employment initiatives, programs like the NRBP and RNF internship create a supportive ecosystem that nurtures both the next generation of talent and the local economy.
