Meet the Paw-some Contestants from New Jersey

These furry athletes come from rescue organizations and are not only competing for glory but are also ambassadors for adoptable pets.
A Closer Look at This Year's Canine Stars
Among the participants is Finch, a spirited pup from the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, who represents Team Fluff. Finch is described as embodying the underdog spirit, known for his boundless energy and friendly demeanor. Joining him on the same team is Lilah from Ziva Dog Rescue, who captivates everyone with her sweet nature.
On Team Ruff, we have Raquel, also hailing from Ziva Dog Rescue, showcasing the lovely dogs that can be found in New Jersey’s shelters. Each of these pups represents not only their ability to play but the larger mission of finding forever homes for rescue pets.
Why Puppy Bowl Matters: Adoption Awareness
The Puppy Bowl, now in its 22nd year, serves as an entertaining way to promote the adoption of pets in need. It highlights that all participating dogs are typically adopted, picking up the spotlight to get people thinking about where their next pet could come from. With rescue organizations from across the U.S., it's a prime opportunity to encourage dog adoption over purchasing from breeders.
The Rescue Network Behind the Scenes
Participating organizations, such as the Animal Welfare Association and Ziva Dog Rescue, work tirelessly to provide safe havens for stray and surrendered pets. These groups not only help local dogs but contribute to a nationwide movement encouraging shelter adoptions, evidenced by the positive rates of adoption that Puppy Bowl champions each year.
